Welcome to GCGMS

Gulf Coast Gas Measurement Society (GCGMS) is a Houston-based Non-Profit Organization committed to providing educational events, social networking and scholarships benefiting the Gas Measurement portion of the greater Energy Industry.

From its humble beginnings in 1963, the Society continued to grow and evolve.The size of the Society has fluctuated between about 100 and 300 members at any given time.The Society has held monthly meetings since its inception, plus various other social functions from time to time, such as golf tournaments, fishing rodeos,clay shoots,trips to Busch Gardens,and Christmas parties. Also, in 1966, the Society conceived of what is known today as the American School of Gas Measurement Technology.

In 1992, the Society established a college scholarship program for deserving college students pursuing careers in engineering or science. In 2009, the scholarship program was named in memory of E. Loy Upp, the first Society president, after his passing.The program annually awards between $5,000 and $10,000 in scholarship money.

Our Pupose

The purpose of the Society is the advancement of gas measurement for the mutual benefit of the members, industry, and the Society. It is the goal of the Society to inform, educate, and discuss industry concerns, trends, developments, or changes with our members through monthly social luncheons and industry specific presentations in which open dialogue and questions are encouraged.

Since 1963

The Gulf Coast Gas Measurement Society(GCGMS) was formed in Houston, Texas and has been supporting gas measurement and professionals in the Gulf Coast region since 1963. All members are actively engaged in natural gas measurement work ranging from design, operation, engineering, maintenance of gas measurement equipment and verification of measurement data, to the sale of equipment, materials, or services for gas measurement.
